In May 2011, Harpa, the new concert hall in Reykjavik opened. The design was a collaboration between the Danish and Icelandic architects Henning Larsen and Batteríið and the artist Ólafur Elíasson.
It was designed as part of a regeneration project for the docklands area of the city. However, construction abandoned for a while during Iceland’s economic crisis, until the government decided to fund the completion of the building.
I took these photographs, mostly of the interior, on a very grey day, but I plan to go back and photograph this remarkable building again, to see how it changes in a different light. |
